Nicholas Elie
Drummer and Multi-Instrumentalist
Born in Cape Town South Africa, my family moved to London Ontario at a very early age. Growing up as
a musician in London exposed me to a variety of genres, including jam bands, funk, jazz, metal and
others. Spending most of my youth in London main stay venues such as The Embassy, Call The Office
and The Wick, I was introduced to a plethora of musicians in the scene, and had the pleasure of
collaborating with a number of artists and acts. I’ve been involved with and hosted a number of festival
type events over the course of my musical career.
I have been playing drums for 25 years, 23 professionally. I also write, with an upcoming solo album in
production. I play guitar, bass, and sing lead vocals. I have many projects on the go at any given time,
and am open to collaboration, and filling in as a musician for hire when the need arises.
To me, music is the truest form of spiritual expression, limited only by imagination. I believe integrity is
crucial to one’s work, though integrity can mean a variety of things, such as dedication to form and
tradition, expressing your art free from boundaries and limitation, or conversely, having a goal or target
audience, and balancing your work between personal expression, and the likes of the listener.
Music is not my only proficiency. I am a producer and audio/mixing engineer. I am also a graphic
designer with 15 years of experience in promotions. I’ve worked with radio, TV, web design and social
media, producing posters and other media, including video.
I have been fortunate enough to participate in several events with the FCLMAs, including as a nominee
(Prepboy – best metal – 2019), a presenter (Best punk - 2019), and committee member for 2022 Rock
and Singer/Songwriter Categories.
