1pm - 6pm
We are putting together an event September 18th at Springbank Gardens. It is a "Mini-Festival" in conjunction with the Forest City London Music Awards and the Digital Creative Arts Centre. The idea is for it to become a recurring annual "Close to the Edge Festival".
The name is a triple entendre. "Close to the Edge" is a Yes song, a band all of us in PTP identify with - and the song is about the Thames River (albeit the one in England). Obviously, by playing at Springbank Gardens we are playing "close to the edge" of the Thames and, by default due to our improvisational nature, we are always playing "close to the edge". The reasoning behind attempting to initiate a new festival is that locally, in general, the existing festivals tend to look past us fringe or "outsider" bands - and the ones that did offer such bookings are no longer active. What we hope is that next year we can parlay this into a 10-hour festival, and the following year a 2-day festival proper. This year it is a one day, 5-hour event. Admission is free, donations will be accepted. The Line up is: Tara Dunphy and Larry Smith, Noelle Frances, the Aitken/Clark/Peacock Trio, Prism Tape Philosophy and Fenyx Fyre (sideshow act and MC). The New Leaf Food Truck will be onsite, as will be a handful of vendors. On board as sponsors we have The Village Idiot, Plant Matter Kitchen, Studio Shim, Shane Wilcox Artist, Keeley Electronics and Instrumental Aluminum. Virtual Tip Jar |
